Mr. Deepak Sharma, 52 years, is currently serving as the joint Secretary for Technical and Vocational Education Division in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Mr. Sharma has around 34 years’ experience in the education sector in various capacities such as school teacher, school supervisor, Planning and Monitoring Officer, Research Officer, Senior Instructor, District Education Officer, Director, Deputy Director-General and Joint Secretary.

Mr. Sharma completed a Master Degree in Economics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and a Master Degree in Education from the University of Leeds, UK. He also received some major international awards particularly, International Diploma Course on Educational Planning and Administration(India); Planning Capacity Development Training (Japan) and Project Management Training (Australia).

Having extensive experience within the education sector, Mr. Sharma contributed to promoting the Sector Wide Approach in the education sector in Nepal, which is now firmly rooted.

He has published several articles on education-related issues such as teachers’ professional development, action research, planning and budgeting.
